Parent Support Program

Parent Support Program

bettering childhood outcomes

In 2015, Lydia Place launched the Parent Support Program aimed at ending the cycle of poverty for the families we serve by bettering childhood outcomes. This program includes intensive, flexible, and evidence-based home visiting services focused on equipping parents with the knowledge and resources they need to parent their children into successful adults.

Services include in-home and classroom parenting education, child development coaching, early childhood educational advocacy, and therapeutic interventions for children and youth. Parent support services are available to families in any Lydia Place housing program as well as those in any partner agency housing program.

Our goal is to leave a developmentally appropriate book with each child at every home visit! Click here to view our book wish list and help us meet our goal: each child, every visit.

Services provided in the Parent Support Program

Parents as Teachers

The feature service of the Parent Support Program is Parents as Teachers (PAT), a nation-wide, evidence-based service with 30 years of research proving its success. As of May 2015, Lydia Place is an Affiliate PAT program with a campaign to serve up to 40 families at a time. Certified parent educators visit our families in the comfort of their homes a minimum of twice monthly to support parents in developing the skills and confidence needed to raise healthy, happy little ones. The goal is to provide each family with a minimum of two years of support. Families can enroll in PAT anytime beginning prenatal to age 4 and services can continue through kindergarten.

Family Connections

In addition to the home-visiting services offered through PAT and short-term individualized parent support, the Parent Support Program provides monthly Group Connections. Group Connections are opportunities for our parenting families to come together, build community, make healthy connections, enjoy family activities, and engage in group learning. Group Connections rely on the generosity and support of many individuals, groups, and organizations in our community to deliver creative, high quality programs and activities throughout the year.
