Gifts Beyond the Checkbook
Gifts of Stock
Giving appreciated stock is an incredible way to support Lydia Place. It is a quick and simple process, with significant tax benefits for you. Your gift will qualify for a deduction equal to the value of the stock and you will not owe capital gains taxes on the appreciation.
To make a gift of stock, simply email us or call 360-671-7663 to request our account information.
Donate from an IRA
Donors 70 ½ and older can donate directly from your IRA account and count your gift as a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). A gift directly from your IRA will not incur tax and may count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) if one is due.
Donor Advised Funds
Giving through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is one of the easiest ways to make a larger, more impactful gift. If you have a DAF, please consider making a generous year-end gift to support our work. And please let us know if you make a grant from your DAF so we can personally thank you for making a difference for families in our community!
Future Gifts
Gifts for the future cost you nothing today, and are an important source of future funding to ensure Lydia Place continues our mission to disrupt the cycle of homelessness for years to come.
Make a Gift in Your Will
Including a gift in your will is a powerful way to support Lydia Place and it costs you nothing today. A gift in your will makes an incredible impact and is a powerful statement about your values and the legacy you will leave for future generations.
Sample Language
To include Lydia Place in your will, you may wish to use language similar to the following. Sample Bequest Language: “I give, devise, and bequeath to Lydia Place, tax identification number 94-3111948, ____% of my total estate (or $_____) to be used in an unrestricted manner for the furtherance of Lydia Place’s mission. Lydia Place may be contacted at PO Box 28487, Bellingham, WA 98228, 360-671-7663, and at lydiaplace.org.”

Beneficiary Designation
Naming Lydia Place as the beneficiary of a retirement account may eliminate both income and estate taxes.
You can specify the individuals and charities you want to support and you can also specify the percentage of the assets you want each beneficiary to receive.
Beneficiary designations are available when giving: retirement assets, life insurance, bank accounts or investment accounts.
